PINE BOX ORCHESTRA
The Pine Box Orchestra is/was a folk-rock trio of over-ambitious graduate students at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Sarah Wynia Smith dissects frogs and plays trumpet, flute, and keyboards. Burr Settles teaches computers to read, writes most of the songs, sings, and plays a variety of fretted and percussive instruments. Brian Smith does something with "sirtuins" and plays the cello, bass, and guitar.
Looking for the music?
The PBO are on haitus, since Burr is now a postdoc at Carnegie Mellon University, and Brian and Sarah are now postdocs at UC Berkeley. We'll get the band back together some day, and recordings are still in the works for a CD release.
